Generate Business using Local SEO

Organic Search ranking can make the difference between a thriving small business and one that just scrapes along. Ranking in Google for local search is a very powerful way to get walk-in traffic. Your website will provide many valuable leads once you learn how to generate business from your website using local SEO.

Businesses that rank high for local search get leads on demand, in their sleep, every day.

Here are 5 things they do well which help them to get there:

1. Google Business Listing for Local SEO

Since Google has removed the Google+ network, there is little we can do to tell Google what it is we do. But that’s where Google business listing comes to the rescue. By adding a detailed list to your Google my business listing at https://www.google.com/business/ you get the opportunity to get your records straight with Google.

Watch our Free Google My Business Video Mini-Course to find out what you can easily do yourself to improve your local SEO in just a few moves.

You can also describe your products and services. If you use your main keywords to optimise your Google business profile, you’re onto a winner.

2. Local SEO and Social Media Signals

Social Media signals make a big difference to local search, especially if you have a local following. Complete your profile, adding backlinks to your website and your main landing pages. Make sure you get plenty of positive reviews - so quality is the name of the game. If you don't focus on quality the reviews could be your downfall.

3. Backlinks from local high ranking sites or influencers

Find who is linking to your main competitors for local keywords and make sure you ask for the same backlinks. It may take some local PR or Influencer marketing, but it’s worth it in the long run.

4. SEO your Website and Images

Don’t forget to optimise your images for local search. Optimise your URLs and make sure your website is easy to crawl. Then choose plenty of locally-focused keywords and make sure your main pages are optimised for these keywords.

5. Optimise for video search

Use multimedia and optimise your Youtube channel and your videos specifically for your keywords. Make sure that you embed the video on your pages and optimise all around. Do not however forget to make your content highly relevant to your target audience. Your content needs to be found by your local audience but it also needs to make them return for more and share with colleagues and friends.

Before you begin on this journey make sure that you know the right list of keywords that will work for you. Would you like to talk to us about keyword research?
